  • Five UCVTS Semifinalists for the USA Physics Olympiad


    Eleven students from the UCVTS Science Club participated in the F=ma Physics Olympiad preliminary exam in late January. Five of them were selected as semifinalists to participate in the USA Physics Olympiad exam to be given on April 6. The five students are: Alan Du (AIT), Ethan Cheung (MHS), Albert Wen (MHS), Richard Wen (MHS), and Skanda Rao (MHS). Each year less than 400 students nationwide are selected to take the USAPhO exam. Congratulations to them all for a great performance!

  • World Food Prize challenge

    Five UCVTS Students from Introduction to Sustainability Class and one of our NJ FFA students received Borlaug Scholar Certificate for competing in the World Food Prize challenge at Rutgers University on Friday March 3, 2017.

    The students presented their research and recommendations on how to solve key global challenges in a short speech and small group discussions with statewide experts. Our students were also able to connect with other student leaders from across New Jersey to share ideas, identify solutions to these problems and build lasting friendships. They also Interacted with global leaders in science, industry and policy and took part in educational sessions and interactive tours at Rutgers University. There they were able to explore current research and issues in international development and life sciences. They also met innovative researchers, professors and college students in New Jersey working to end hunger and poverty and improve food security around the world.

    200 students will be selected from around USA to attend the Global Youth Institute held in October 2017 in Iowa. Participants in the Institute are eligible to apply for a prestigious Borlaug-Ruan International Internship; an all-expenses-paid, eight-week hands-on experience, working with world-renowned scientists and policymakers at leading research centers in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

  • UCVTS Varsity and JV Chess teams competed in the NJ High School Chess Championship
    held in the West Hall Cafeteria on March 4th and 5th.

    Our varsity players shown in the picture are Elie Kapengut, Matthew Li, Skanda Rao, Nataly Osma, and Francis Buison (missing in pix) and our junior varsity players shown in the picture are Justin Wu, Sohum Agnihotri, Abishek Mhatre, Ricky Thompson.


    As for the results of the weekends competition Elie Kapengut received a 3rd place for seat 1 in the Varsity team and our varsity team took the 10th place trophy. As for the junior varsity, Abishek Mhatre received 3rd place in the 3rd seat. The trophies are displayed in the trophy case on the bridge located between AIT and Magnet.
